Kwali LGA, FCT

Kwali  Local Government Area (LGA), created on October 1, 1996 by the military administration of General Sani Abacha, with its headquarters in the town of Kwali . It comprises several towns and villages such as Wako, Yangoji, Kundu, Kwali, Gumbo, Ashara, Kwali, Pai, and Kilankwa . Covering an area of 1,241 km², the LGA had a population of 86,174 in 2006, projected to grow to 188,000 by 2022, with a density of 151.5/km². Kwali LGA is home to a booming pottery business and serves as a means of livelihood for a substantial percentage of the LGA’s inhabitants. Textile making is another key economic activity in Kwali LGA.
