Gwagwalada Local Government Area (LGA) was created on 15 October 1984, with its headquarters in the town of Gwagwalada and the area is made up of several towns and villages which include Dabagayi, Agota, Basan Zuba, Gbadolo, Kaburufi, Wurumbi, Ledi, and Gurebare. With a land area of 1,036 km² in 2006, Gwagwalada had a population of 158,618, projected to increase to 346,000 by 2022, with a population density of 333.8/km². Gwagwalada has a vibrant economy and hosts several banks including government and privately owned institutions.
