Isa LGA, Sokoto State

Isa Local Government Area is located in Sokoto East Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Isa. It shares borders with Shinkafi in Zamfara State to the south, Goronyo to the west, Sabon Birni to the north within Sokoto State, and the Republic of Niger to the east . The LGA includes several towns and villages, such as Turba, Bafarawa, Tozai, Yanfako, Bargaja, Gidan Bawa, Isa, and Gidan Dikko . Isa LGA covers an area of 2,038 km², with a population of 150,268 recorded in the 2006 census, projected to reach about 259,400 in 2022, resulting in a population density of approximately 127.3 people per km²  . The Gobirawa and Fulani ethnic groups form the majority of the population, with Hausa and Fufulde as commonly spoken languages . Animal husbandry is also prominent, with camels, donkeys, and rams commonly reared and traded in local markets.
