Etche LGA, Rivers State

Etche Local Government Area is in Rivers State with headquarters in Okehi town . It is under the Rivers East Senatorial District and  a population of 249,939 in 2006 and a projection to be 359,500 in 2022 . The area has a population density of 464 people per kilometer square and covers an area of 774 kilometer square. Etche Local Government has a huge deposit of crude oil, it is the second place where crude oil was found in commercial quantities in Nigeria after Olobiri . The area also cultivate crops like yam, cassava, banana and, plantain. The Delta Rubber Factory in Okomoko is one of the notable landmarks in the area.
