Akinyele LGA, Oyo State

Akinyele Local Government Area (LGA), with headquarters in the town of Moniya , is located in the Oyo Central Senatorial District. Created in 1976, Akinyele covers an area of 464.892 square kilometers. With a population of 211,811 (2006 census) , consisting of 105,594 males and 106,217 females, the LGA's 2022 projected population stands at 302,700, giving it a population density of 516 people per square kilometer. The economy of Akinyele thrives on farming, transportation, and trading , with a central abattoir catering to the needs of people across the Southwest. It is also known for its dry port.
