Owo LGA, Ondo State

Owo, with its headquarters in Owo Town , is one of the most historically and culturally significant LGAs in Ondo State. Covering an area of 635 square kilometers, the population of Owo was 222,262 in 2006 and is projected to rise to 350,900 by 2022, giving it a population density of 552.5 people per square kilometer.  The Owo LGA belongs to the Ondo North Senatorial District. Owo is renowned for its rich cultural history and archaeological significance. , being one of the oldest Yoruba towns. Economically, the LGA is a hub for trade, agriculture, and craftsmanship, with cocoa and kola nut farming being prominent. Owo is also famous for its wood carving and traditional textiles. The Igogo Festival is a celebrated cultural event that attracts visitors from across the region, showcasing the rich traditions and royal heritage of the Owo Kingdom.
