Irele LGA, Ondo State

Irele LGA, headquartered in Ode-Irele, is located in the Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State. It covers an area of approximately 963 square kilometers and had a population of 144,136 in 2006, projected to reach about 221,400 by 2022, giving it a population density of approximately 230 people per square kilometer. Irele is primarily an agrarian area, with oil palm, cocoa, cassava, rubber, and timber as its major economic resources. The LGA is also known for its bitumen deposits, while palm oil processing, fishing, and local trade contribute significantly to the economy.yThe people of Irele are predominantly Ikale, a subgroup of the Yoruba ethnic group. The LGA celebrates traditional festivals such as the Ore Festival and Eminale Festival, reflecting its rich cultural heritage and strong community values.
