Ese-edo LGA, Ondo State

Ese-Odo, located in the riverine region of Ondo State, has its headquarters in Igbekebo . Established in 1976, it spans an area of 1,600 square kilometers. According to the 2006 census, it had a population of 154,978, projected to grow to 243,500 by 2022, yielding a population density of approximately 152.2 people per square kilometer. The LGA is primarily occupied by the Ijaw-speaking people, who are known for their fishing and farming practices. Major economic activities include the cultivation of crops like plantains, coconuts, and cassava, alongside fishing, which serves as a vital source of livelihood due to the area's proximity to water bodies. Ese-Odo is rich in cultural heritage, with festivals such as the Oborowe and Agiri festivals celebrated by the Ijaw people.
