Amuwo-odofin LGA, Lagos State

Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area (LGA), headquartered in Festac Town, is situated in the Badagry Division of Lagos State and falls within the Lagos West Senatorial District. The LGA spans an area of 114.2 square kilometres, with a 2006 census population of 328,975 that has grown to an estimated 487,000 in 2022. This reflects a population density of approximately 4,266 people per square kilometre. Festac Town, a major residential and cultural hub within Amuwo-Odofin, was established for the 1977 Second World African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC). It remains a landmark federal housing estate and a symbol of Nigeria's cultural heritage. The LGA also encompasses industrial areas, commercial districts, and growing residential developments.
