Oyun LGA, Kwara State

Oyun Local Government Area (LGA) was established in August 1991, following its separation from the old Oyun-Offa Local Government Area, with its headquarters located at Ilemona in Kwara South Senatorial District. The LGA comprises major towns and villages, including Erin-Ile, Ira, Igosun, Ojoku, Igbona, Inaja, Ikotun, Ijagbo, and Ipee . Covering an area of 442.6 km², Oyun LGA had a population of 94,454 in 2006, which was projected to rise to 141,800 by 2022, resulting in a population density of 320.4/km²  . The region's climate supports the cultivation of a variety of crops such as potatoes, mangoes, corn, millet, soybeans, plantain, and cassava. The area is also known for its rich granite deposits . Other economic activities include animal rearing, crafts making, and textile weaving .
