Oke-ero LGA, Kwara State

Oke-Ero Local Government Area (LGA) was carved out of Ekiti Local Government Area in 1996, with its headquarters at Iloffa, situated in Kwara South Senatorial District. Prominent towns include Iloffa, Odo-Owa, Ayedun, Idofin, Imode, Egosi, Kajola, Ekan Nla, Ilale, Erin Mope, and Idofin Ekan . Spanning an area of 436.7 km², Oke-Ero LGA had a population of 56,970 in 2006, projected to rise to 85,500 by 2022, with a population density of 195.8/km²  . Oke-Ero's tropical vegetation supports a robust agricultural economy. The area is known for cash crops like cocoa, maize, cassava, yam, sugarcane, bananas, oranges, cotton, and jute. Palm oil production is also significant, with palm fruits widely processed and sold across the communities . The LGA boasts abundant granite and feldspar deposits, while its residents engage in traditional crafts such as bead making, pottery, and wood carving .
