Kabba/bunu LGA, Kogi State

Kabba/Bubu local government area is situated in Kogi West Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the town of Kabba. The LGA encompasses towns such as Egbeda, Okedayo, Bunu, Odogbo, Guguruji, Ayangan, and Kabba. Covering 2,703 km², Kabba/Bubu had a 2006 population of 144,579, projected to grow to 194,900 by 2022, resulting in a population density of 72.11/km². The people of Kabba/Bunu generally speak Okun which is the language of the Yoruba-speaking community in Kogi State. The Kabba people pride themselves as the native speaker of the Owé dialect while those from Bunu district refers to theirs as Èdè Abinu. Owing to its vast forest reserves, lumbering is a major component of the economy of Kabba/Bunu LGA. Agriculture is also an important economic activity in the area with crops such as coffee grown in the LGA. A number of colourful festivals are held in Kabba/Bunu LGA and these include the New yam and the Oro festivals.
