Suru LGA, Kebbi State

Suru Local Government Area (LGA), with its headquarters in Suru town, is situated within the Kebbi Central Senatorial District. Established in 1991, the LGA was carved out of the existing Bunza Local Government Area. The 2006 census recorded a population of 148,474, which is projected to have increased to 253,700 by 2022. In 2022, the LGA had a population density of 155.8 people per square kilometer. It covers a total area of 1,629 square kilometers.The area is agriculturally rich area is known for its rice farming, which contributes significantly to the state’s economy.
