Ibeno Local Government Area lies within the Akwa Ibom South senatorial district, with coordinates 4.568693°N 7.976396°E. The LGA was created on December 4, 1996, from the defunct Uquo-Ibeno Local Government Area. The 2006 population was recorded at 74,840, with a projected increase to 95,500 in 2022. Spanning an area of 271.2 km², Ibeno has a population density of 352.2 people per km². Its postal code is 524110. Ibeno is an oil-rich region, hosting ExxonMobil, now Seplat Energy, which has significantly contributed to the local economy. Fishing remains the primary occupation, supported by abundant rivers and tributaries. Other economic activities include farming crops such as oil palm, cashew, and rubber, alongside trade and canoe crafting. A prominent feature of the LGA is Ibeno Beach, a major tourist attraction in Akwa Ibom State.
