Koko/besse LGA, Kebbi State

Koko/Besse is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Kebbi State, Nigeria, with its administrative headquarters located in the town of Koko. This LGA falls under the Kebbi North Senatorial District. The town of Koko was founded by Mallam Mamman Dan-Gindi, a grandson of Mallam Abdulsalami Bagimbane, and is predominantly inhabited by the Gimbanawa and Fulani ethnic groups. Koko/Besse Local Government Area, situated within the Gwandu Emirate, is one of the four emirate councils in Kebbi State. The LGA encompasses several towns and villages, including Bakoshi, Besse, Takware, Lani, Dulmeru, Dada, and Hirini.  The population was recorded as 154,818 in the 2006 census. The projected population for 2022 is 264,500, with a population density of 196.2 per square kilometer. The total area of Koko/Besse LGA is 1,348 square kilometers.
