Zaria Local Government Area was established in 1976 and is located in Kaduna State’s North Senatorial District, with its headquarters in the historic city of Zaria. Covering 563 square kilometers, the LGA had an estimated population of 601,300 in 2022, up from 408,198 in 2006. Zaria is a major educational and military center, hosting institutions such as Ahmadu Bello University, the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, the Nigerian Army Depot, the Nigerian Military School, and the Federal College of Education.
