Chikun LGA, Kaduna State

Chikun Local Government Area (LGA), headquartered in Kujama, is a constituent of the Kaduna Central Senatorial District. Established in 1991, the LGA encompasses a substantial land area of 4,466 square kilometers. The 2006 census recorded a population of 372,272 residents, resulting in a population density of approximately 83 people per square kilometer. By 2022, the estimated population surged to 550,000, with a corresponding population density of 123.1.Agriculture is the major economic driver of Chikun's economy. The cultivation of crops such as maize, millet, and groundnut constitutes a significant portion of the agricultural sector. River Kaduna passes throught the LGA and provides necessary irrigation for the agriculture based economy.
