Ivo LGA, Ebonyi State

Ivo Local Government Area, with its headquarters in Isiaka in the Ebonyi South Senatorial District[1], spans 289.8 km² and includes towns like Obinagu-Ishiagu, Amanonye, Nzerem, Isieke, Ameke, Ihie, Akaeze and Ishiagu, which hosts the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu[2]. In 2006, it had a population of 121,363, projected to grow to 180,800 by 2022, with a density of 623.9 people per km²[3]. Ivo LGA has a rich agricultural heritage and is known for the abundant production of a variety of crops such as yam, rice, maize, cocoyam, and cassava. The area is also rich in mineral deposits such as limestone. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Ivo LGA include pottery and trade[4].
