Ezza South LGA, Ebonyi State

Ezza South is a local government area located in Ebonyi Central Senatorial District . Its headquarters is Onueke and consists of several towns and villages such as Isieke, Achara-ikwo, Afiaelem, Echibokum, Ekebeligwe, Inyafor, Ndeagu, and Okposhi-mgbo . It was created in 1996, amongst other local government areas in the then new Ebonyi state by the military government of General Sani Abacha . Their major occupations are farming and trading as well as emerging civil servant class . It has an area of 310.3 km² and a population of 133,625 at the 2006 census, which was projected to grow to 199,000 in 2022 . It also has a projected population density of 641.3/km² . Indigenous festivals celebrated in Ezza South LGA include the Oke Aku festival . Farming is the major occupation of the people of Ezza south LGA with crops such as rice, yam, cassava, and cocoyam grown in substantially large quantities in the area.
