Dikwa LGA, Borno State

Dikwa Local Government Area (LGA), with its headquarters in Dikwa town, lies in the Borno Central Senatorial District. The LGA was created in 1976 and encompasses an area of 1,673 square kilometres. According to the 2006 census, it had a population of 105,042, which was estimated to increase to 153,900 by 2022, giving a population density of 101 people per square kilometre. 

The economy is primarily based on agriculture, with the cultivation of crops such as millet, rice, and beans. Fishing and small-scale trading are also significant. Dikwa is historically important, known for the old Dikwa Emirate and remnants of ancient Kanem-Bornu structures.
