Damboa Local Government Area (LGA), headquartered in Damboa town, falls within the Borno South Senatorial District. It was created in 1976 and covers a land area of 4,799 square kilometers. The 2006 census recorded a population of 233,200, which has grown to an estimated 341,700 in 2022, resulting in a density of 58 people per square kilometre.
