Bama LGA, Borno State

Bama Local Government Area (LGA), with its headquarters in Bama town, is situated in the Borno Central Senatorial District of Borno State, Nigeria. The LGA was established in 1976 and spans a land area of approximately 3,902 square kilometres, with a population of about 270,119 (2006 census), projected to reach around 395,800 by 2022, translating to a density of 85 people per square kilometre.

The economy is based on agriculture, with crops such as maize, millet, and groundnuts, as well as livestock rearing. Bama is also a historic center with the Shehu of Bama’s palace and features traditional festivals. Bama is famous for its historical Kanuri heritage and serves as a cultural hub.
