Ukwa East LGA, Abia State

Ukwa East is a Local Government Area in Abia State, Nigeria, with its administrative headquarters in Akwete. It shares boundaries with Rivers States, positioning it strategically within the southeastern region of Nigeria.  It is among the local governments that make up Abia South senatorial zone. As of the 2006 census, the area had a population of approximately 32,444 and spanned 322.3 square kilometers. By 2022, the population was projected to increase to around 84,700.
